Who Is This For?
This learning journey is for those working in place-based leadership, including:
- Architecture and visionary leaders designing in a way that honors and sustains place
- Urban & rural planners & policymakers shaping towns, cities, and local regions
- Community and cultural practitioners preserving and evolving stories of place
- Land and national park managers stewarding ecosystems and public lands
- Estate owners conserving and re-wilding the land for the next generation
Development pressures, climate shifts, and fragmented planning leave many place-based professionals with conflicting priorities.
Most place-based leaders are struggling with:
❌ Siloed approaches – Conservation, culture, and policy often operate separately instead of as a whole
❌ Short-term wins instead of long-term resilience – Funding cycles and policy shifts make it hard to invest in durable solutions
❌ Disconnection from the communities they serve – Balancing public needs, tourism, and sustainability is harder than ever
❌ Invisibility of place-based work – People in these roles often operate behind the scenes, yet their work is essential to shaping the future
This course is designed to reorient the way we think about place—not as something we “manage,” but as a living system.
Participants of this course leave with:
✔ A radically new way of seeing place-based leadership—beyond preservation, beyond sustainability
✔ Actionable strategies and tools to build adaptive, resilient places that can withstand change
✔ A peer network of leaders working in similar roles—because this work is too complex to do alone
✔ Real-world case studies of regenerative approaches that work—from cities to national parks
This course made my year. It was an incredible journey. I loved the tools it gave me to create regenerative potential, work on systems and to engage stakeholders well. I felt the focus on the self was really important. I learned so much from everyone on the programme. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to engage their community with regenerative design. It gave me space for the thinking needed.
It helped me to embodying the experience of what a regenerative life will be like – to be ready for what is coming, and to rediscover what is my essence. Power of Place gave me a beautiful community, lots of tools that I can use over the coming years, and the fundamental princples of the regenerative paradigm. I felt really well held by the whole cohort in this journey. I feel ready for what is ahead.
I was surprised by how much inner work I did, and how much I had to do. Understanding how much the story of separation had impacted my own life and in my work was really helpful. Looking at potential rather than problems in every programme of work is having real impact on how I work. I now have a process that is in line with bioregional design and place-based health that is an important part of my work.

Our scholarships are only available to community-led place-based regeneration projects in the global south. You must be able to share a project plan with us, even if it is in development. For more details, please apply to our Really Regenerative Scholarship Fund. For S/S25 you must do that by March 1st 2025. For A/W25 you must do that by August 1st 2025.

Power of Place has been running 2 cohorts per year (Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter) since 2020.
Participants come from a wide range of place-based sectors.
Thank you for introducing me to the potential of the regenerative field. Thank you Jenny (and my 2024 cohort members) for the knowledge and inspiration during the Power of Place learning journey – I feel privileged to have had this experience and am exicted to apply this to my projects in Malaysia.
On a professional level I have increased confidence and energy to carry on with this path. I feel less afraid to do things, try out methodologies, frameworks, embodied knowledge and see what happens. The power of embodied learning, connecting with heart and hands as part of the learning process.
It’s hard to express the impact of this journey. I crossed the rickety bridge accompanied by wise guides, climbed into the mountain of the unknown and came back down re-energised and empowered to find a new way to act in collaboration with others instead of as a lone and lonely wolf.
