Welcome to our signature regenerative learning journey, Power of Place.
Join a community of kindred spirits on a leadership journey to unleash the evolutionary potential of the places they steward.
If your deep wish is to create a brighter future for all life on earth. If you long to find practical, uplifting and regenerative ways to transform the future of our planet and the places we live in. If you are frustrated with the speed and effectiveness of the efforts to create change you have encountered so far.
This programme is for you.
You are invited on a journey to learn, experiment and explore, together with professionals from all over the world who are willing to embrace the complexity of birthing the regenerative horizon ahead of us.
“If we change the places of the world, place by place by place, we arrive at a sum total of planetary health.”
Power of Place is for you if
Want to learn how to apply regenerative principles and are prepared to experiment, iterate and learn alongside like-minded others.
Want to unleash the potential of the places and systems you work by learning how to bring whole systems together in collaborate and collective effort in harmony
Want to change urban, rural, neighbourhood, city, ocean, shoreline and wetland landscapes to regenerate life
Want to work on the critical intersection of ecological restoration, economic and social justice, and cultural renaissance of your place
Want to create the enabling conditions for transformative change in the organisation or place in which you work
Power of Place is for you if….
you deeply sense that a different way of relating to the world around us is called for at this time
you recognise that the ways in which we have approached change aren’t working and you’re looking for something that will…
you are longing for a vibrant, vital approach that generates understanding, relationship, community and life….
you are prepared to face into an uncertain future with humility and be prepared to unlearn much of what you think you know in a safe community where you will never be judged…
you want to unleash all the untapped potential in the place in which you work and live; the people, the nature, the culture, the economy….
you are seeking to leave a legacy for future generations that is better than the one they face today
you believe a different future is possible but have felt like a lone voice in the wilderness, and have been unable to instigate the change you feel is urgently needed…
This course made my year. It was an incredible journey. I loved the tools it gave me to create regenerative potential, work on systems and to engage stakeholders well. I felt the focus on the self was really important. I learned so much from everyone on the programme. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to engage their community with regenerative design. It gave me space for the thinking needed.
It helped me to embodying the experience of what a regenerative life will be like – to be ready for what is coming, and to rediscover what is my essence. Power of Place gave me a beautiful community, lots of tools that I can use over the coming years, and the fundamental princples of the regenerative paradigm. I felt really well held by the whole cohort in this journey. I feel ready for what is ahead.
I was surprised by how much inner work I did, and how much I had to do. Understanding how much the story of separation had impacted my own life and in my work was really helpful. Looking at potential rather than problems in every programme of work is having real impact on how I work. I now have a process that is in line with bioregional design and place-based health that is an important part of my work.
All life is process. All life is relational.
Patterns are the tracks of the evolution of life and of the dynamic nested relationships between living systems and beings. They are the guides to the pathways for thriving in every unique place. We can all become pattern trackers of life.

POWER OF PLACE Spring/Summer 2024 Designing Places for Life -
Our Director and course host Jenny Andersson’s long-awaited book Places for Life will be first shared this year with the Power of Place Spring/Summer cohort.
Each week a different chapter of Places for Life will be shared with you.
In Power of Place: Places for Life you will:-
-
learn how to apply the seven core regenerative principles to the places you work in and the systems you work on
-
identify how the vital life flows in your place – across economy, ecology and culture – are stagnated, and how to regenerate them
-
find out how to identify the critical nodes in each system flow that need regenerating
-
learn how to vitalise the fields of energy (stakeholder groups to you and me) that are just waiting to come together and get behind regeneration in your place
-
discover how to create the essential Centres for Life which how the transformative energy fields together
-
backcast from the future to create pathways for transformative change
Together we will create a new story for our places, and explore the patterns and processes that are biologically, culturally and economically unique to each and every place from which we design our pathways towards a regenerative future.
POWER OF PLACE Autumn/Winter 2025 Leading from Place - Who Do We Have To Be
Creating transformative change starts with us. Each one of us. The inner journey demands the humility to engage in a process of unlearning to enable a reconnection and realignment to the living systems around us.
Regeneration is a practice. We need knowledge of course. But we need the collaboration of fellow pilgrims on the journey to collaborate with, experiment with, fail with, learn with and transform with.
If we are to heal the story of separation between humans and humans and go beyond the travails of human ‘messiness’, we need to do the deep work in our Selves, in our relationships to Others.
In Power of Place – Who Do We Have To Be? we explore Act II from Places For Life and dive together into what it takes to travel at the speed of both trust and urgent need. We will learn:-
-
how to be magicians of multiplicity – redesigning the plane from the emergent future
-
how to dance with uncertainty and thrive in constant turbulence
-
how to become shamans of shock and awe
-
practice upstream thinking – always finding the core route cause of disruption
-
become harmonizing synthesisers – able to transmute stuckness and conflict into future potential
-
how to be regenerative resources, stabilising nets that hold the ship steady
What is included in the journey
A COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE
A solidarity crew
Join a committed learning community of practice that stays together beyond Power of Place as life-long friends in the work of transformation. Our time together enables us to connect more deeply . Gain an important supportive pillar in regenerative work – your very own solidarity crew.
PRE-RECORDED KNOWLEDGE SESSIONS
A library of learning.
Each week there are pre-recorded knowledge sessions to watch which are accompanied with workbook assignments that you can easily test out in your place and share back to your cohort. This is how we create the ripple effects of change.
LIVE DIALOGUE & INTEGRATION SESSIONS
Reflective and explorative
Each live session we will dive into the subject, exploring deeper into the often invisible threads that hold back the dynamic evolution of place. We will share our live experiments and work together on our challenges.
LIVE FISH BOWLS
Co-creatively enabling each other.
Our live fishbowl sessions give you an opportunity as individuals to bring a particular challenge to our table. Practising regenerative resourcing we will help each other find new insight into the rocks in the road that we face.
FRAMEWORKS & PRACTICES
Our practical best friends
During the journey you will have access to a series of frameworks and practices that are a regenerative practitioner’s best friend. Frameworks help us de-veil underlying dynamics so that teams and places that are ‘stuck’ can suddenly gain new insight and move forwards towards potential.
GUEST DIALOGUES
Learning from leaders in the field
We share dialogues with leading practitioners in regenerative placemaking from all over the world, alongside exercises and practices, and guides for discovery dialogues which you can use to generate connection with people in your place.
Each journey has an optional 3 day regenerative retreat
Accelerate your regenerative leadership practice in a place of power.
REGENERATIVE GATHERINGS
Selgars Mill, UK and Sanctuari de Lluc, Mallorca Spain.
There is something magical about convening in person to deepen relationships, and to spend quality time together in nature without the distractions of laptop and phone.
In our 3 day gatherings we focus on developing our personal capacity for regenerative leadership.
We gather at two venues. In Spring/Summer in the UK at Selgars Mill, a beautiful rural retreat in the heart of England’s west country. In Autumn we gather in the stunning Tramuntana Mountains in Mallorca at the former monastery in Lluc. Here we will be joined by one of the founders of the regenerative movement, Daniel Christian Wahl.
These 3 day in-person intensives are an opportunity for us to dive deep into the practice of regenerative leadership.
Together we will explore the qualities of a living systems leader: the courage, the integrity, the deep pattern of self-remembering that allows us to consistently manifest the individual state of being that is required of us to shape and hold a container for transformative change.
How do we each discover what is ours to do in this world?
How do we build the capability and the will to do the work that is ours to do?
Once you have registered for the programme, full details of each will be shared with you.
Who joins the Power of Place learning community?
Places for Life are created by many different people.
Leaders of Councils & Municipalities. National Parks. Academia. Places protecting heritage. Landowners. Farmers. Place-based brands. Ocean regenerators. Earth regenerators. Bioregionalists. Social entrepreneurs. Community leaders. Councillors. Politicians.
Places for Life are created by courageous optimists who face into systems collapse with strong hearts recreated anew every day by the people they travel with.
It takes more than a village!
We are living in a once-in-400-year transformation.
We are evolving towards a new, worldview once more aligned to the living systems principles that have sustained life on earth for 3.8 billion years. We are hospicing the era of Newtonian and Cartesian ‘enlightenment’, division, classification theory, for a future of interbeing, entanglement and interrelationships.
We are changing how we exist in the world and how we relate to the life in it.
That takes more than a village. It takes more than urban planners or architects or leaders of municipalities or NGOs, or farmers, or landowners or developers or community leaders or economists or entrepreneurs or brands or you.
It takes all of us.
All of us who work from the idea of place – whether we work at the scale of a bioregion or a neighbourhood – to recognise that we need to convene multi-stakeholder relationships to bring a regenerative future to life.
It takes the creation of CENTRES FOR LIFE.
It will take a different way of organising ourselves. Different institutions. Different theories of property and ownership. Different ways to build, renovate, regenerate the built environment. Different ways to restore and regenerate our landscapes.Transform our business systems – from tourism to heritage to housing.
A vision of an ecologically, economically and culturally just world is just at the tip of our fingertips. With courage.
We change the places we care for through multi-stakeholder collaboration. Together. If you are committed to trans-contextual, symbiotic, inter-connected relationships in which we experiment together to birth regenerative futures, Power of Place is for you. No matter what your current role, title or job.
PARTICIPANTS COME FROM A WIDE RANGE OF PLACE-BASED SECTORS.
Thank you for introducing me to the potential of the regenerative field. Thank you Jenny (and my 2024 cohort members) for the knowledge and inspiration during the Power of Place learning journey – I feel privileged to have had this experience and am exicted to apply this to my projects in Malaysia.
On a professional level I have increased confidence and energy to carry on with this path. I feel less afraid to do things, try out methodologies, frameworks, embodied knowledge and see what happens. The power of embodied learning, connecting with heart and hands as part of the learning process.
It’s hard to express the impact of this journey. I crossed the rickety bridge accompanied by wise guides, climbed into the mountain of the unknown and came back down re-energised and empowered to find a new way to act in collaboration with others instead of as a lone and lonely wolf.

Some of the questions we are asked.
What happens if I can’t attend a live session?
All live sessions are recorded and uploaded into our host platform Mighty Networks the day afterwards. So you won’t miss out!
Will I meet other people from my own field of work?
If your work is in place, you will. Power of Place attracts people from all over the world with a wide variety of backgrounds. Built environment. Land restoration. Village design and creation. Food systems. Tourism. Community projects. Heritage organisations who steward culture. We have found the exchange of wisdom and knowlege rich an rewarding for all participants.
Does Power of Place welcome businesses too?
Yes we do. The businesses that join us usually have a strong connection to place. They may be stewarding natural resources like IKEA. Or creating food brands from place like St Austell Brewery. Or working on regenerative fashion with a strong link to a particular place like Seasalt.
Is there any 1:2:1 support or coaching offered?
No. Regenerative work is collective work. Our whole ethos is to learn to co-create and add co-mutual value to each other by openly working on our challenges together.
Is there translation into any other languages?
We are translating POP into Spanish as we have so many participants from Spain and south America who are Spanish speaking, and will endeavour to have all materials ready for POP this year.
Can I join Power of Place: Leading From Place without having done Power of Place: Places For Life?
You can, but we strongly recommend doing Places For Life first. You will learn about the core regenerative principles there which are indispensable.
How much time do I need to allocate each week?
We recommend a minimum of 4 hours a week for each journey.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes, when you click on any of the joining buttons you will find the full list of payment options.
Do you offer bursaries?
We do, but they are mainly for people in the global south and those on very low incomes without a current funding stream. Bursary recipients do have to have formed a charity, CIC or similar with a minimum of 2 directors.
Can I join both journeys?
Yes of course! Originally Power of Place was one journey for 9 months. This year we chose to split it into two, but you are still welcome to join both. Again you’ll find all the joining options when you opt to join.
Do I have to go on both retreats, can I go on both retreats, or none?
The retreats are optional but we strongly recommend them. You can choose either retreat, both or neither. Make your choice early. We only hold a small number of rooms so when they’re gone, they’re gone!
Join Power of Place before 12th March 2025 for a journey that will give you the knowledge and tools to shape our regenerative futures, and the wisdom and compassion to do it together without fear, anger or conflict.
Dates for your diaries.

Prices & Payment Plans
Our aim is to enable a worldwide field of regenerative designers and practitioners working in place. Our belief is that those in abundance (however relative) should help to support those in times of scarcity. Scarcity is not only a mindset, sometimes it’s a financial reality. For everyone who funds the full amount, we are able to generate more scholarships to those who have less opportunity to self-fund but just as much opportunity to create change, if supported. Please be generous with your choice.
We know that many place-based organisations and community-led projects also struggle with funds. So we have a variety of payment plans you can choose from. Please choose the plan that is appropriate for your circumstances. We believe we all contribute what we can in context.

REGENERATIVE DESIGN PRINCIPLES
THE REGENERATIVE POWER OF PLACE
Why Place? Why do we begin with Place? The challenge of changing global economic systems can sometimes seem overwhelming. But we can change our places. One by one. We are coming home and coming back to life when we reconnect to the places we inhabit. Reconnecting to the Power of Place can help us transform our extractive global economies, to regenerative thriving places where all life flourishes. The global pandemic has seen the green shoots of a new glo-cal economy emerging; a return to local where we can whilst still operating in a global economy. We study the different ways in which a regenerative economy diverges and creates the conditions conducive to life, and the tools that we have available to start that transition.
REGENERATIVE DESIGN & THINKING – A New Perspective
We need a new narrative on which to build a regenerative economy in each and every place we inhabit and work. We live amongst complex living systems that have adapted and evolved for 3.8 billion years. We will explore the key principles of living systems, and help you adopt them in your projects and programmes as the foundation of regenerative design to create living, thriving places. How does the intelligence of nature deal with waste? How does nature share resources equally, and where needed, among a community? What lessons can we learn or designing our own local strategies?
A NESTED VIEW OF SYSTEMIC PURPOSE IN PLACE
Regenerative practitioners work at three levels simultaneously. We work on our own development, the development of our teams, project and place, and on the role of that place in changing the systems that surround it. To be successful we need to learn to see and map the nested systems that surround us, so that we can become effective ecosystemic acupuncturists. We learn to identify the interconnected and inter-dependent systems that affect our place and find the nodes where change will be most effective. We help to surface the our own role and the role of our projects to lift up the purpose of the systems in which we work.
ROOTS RUNNING DEEP – the patterns and story of Place
To allow our Places and the people who live and work within them to achieve their highest potential, we need to deeply understand the story that our places want to tell. We learn how to see the patterns and flows of energy and movement, to map the unique biology and culture that give rise to a new expression of the essence of our place and its role in the world. What is the gift to the world of each of our own places? What do the patterns of generations mean for how we should design? What is the unique bio-cultural essence of our story?
CREATING THE CONDITIONS FOR VITALISED COMMUNITY
No place can thrive, evolve or activate systemic change unless its community comes together behind a co-created vision for the future. Creating and sustaining the energy needed for transformation comes from the heart and soul of the people within. We learn how to design and sustain collaborative community, and the deep engagement practices that support them. How do we make a shift to stewards and hosts of the future? What qualities and practices do we need to develop?
ADAPTIVE, EVOLUTIONARY DESIGN, CULTURE & BEING
Regenerative development is adaptive and ever-changing. To design strategies for our places and the communities within them, demands new and different qualities and practices. It asks us to step up and grow up as humans.
Whilst we need to learn to design adaptively, how to build in feedback loops that allow for agility, creativity and change, we also need to work on the qualities we need: courage, compassionate communications, patience and coherence, working within the rhythms of nature.
